BX Coiler Rewinder
Our job here was to provide
a control system for a machine where space was at a minimum. We
decided to mount two panels back to back and locate the power components
in one side (disconnect, fuses, contactors, etc.), and the control
components in the other (drives, PLC, control relay). Power and
control wiring was passed through the backplates between devices as
required. The climate controlled cabinet, shown to the right, was
compact and yet there was still some room left over for additional
controls (future modifications). |

The panels were to be
mounted on the machine so the door of the control side of the cabinet
became the Main Operator Station. The programmable devices in this
system consisted of an Allen Bradley, Panelview 300 keypad interface, two
Eurotherm 690+ AC Vector drives (for the coiler and traverse motors), and
an Allen-Bradley Micrologix 1200 PLC. All programs were provided by
Titan Controls and Integration. |
Update:
As this machine was sold to a cable manufacturer in
England, we travelled "across the pond" to commission it. In
addition to the electrical commissioning, there were numerous mechanical
and pneumatic modifications that we performed with the assistance of our
customer and local resources. |
